Hi Shoot & Rider!
It's been a little while, I know.
Or maybe this is the first time I've landed in your inbox, in which case welcome and thank you for subscribing!
I've got a group of WhatsApp buddies who all love to ride their adventure bikes and come home with photos.
Really bloody good photos.
We all used to post on Instagram.
In fact it's how some of us met.
But recently our enthusiasm for the worlds most popular moto-photo sharing site has dipped somewhat.
It's not the same place that it used to be.
Or maybe it's us that have changed.
I don't know.
The point is, the sharing isn't as fun as it used to be.
Which got me thinking.
What's more important?
The sharing of moto photos?
Or the making of moto photos?
Which then got me thinking.
Maybe if I think like this, some of you do too.
Which then got me thinking.
Maybe it's time to fire up the Shoot & Ride newsletter again.
This time with a slightly different approach.
I subscribe to what I think is the worlds best newsletter by Seth Godin.
It's got nothing to do with bikes or cameras.
It's for media business folk.
But the point is, Seth doesn't know what I do in my job.
He's not interested in the sharing (of moto photos).
What he does well is knowing what I need to help me stay curious about HOW I do my job.
The questions to ask that make me enjoy my work more, and get better at it.
He's fully focussed on the making (of moto photos).
So here's what this new chapter of Shoot & Ride is going to be.
A weekly email that lands in your inbox that will help you fall back in love with your moto photography.
A few words and the odd photo every week that help you stay curious and grow as a photographer who loves motorcycles.
A few minutes of your valuable time that will help bring some focus to your riding, where to go and what to shoot when you get there.
If that sounds like a plan, I look forward to taking this journey with you.
The first email of this new chapter lands tomorrow.
Thank you for your time.
